Two students of the Bonn-Rhine-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, Marc Möller-Boldt and Marco Führer, used EYEVIDO Labs in the summer semester 2019 to examine the website of STATSports, a provider of GPS trackers in professional sports. They were able to show how individual the navigation through a customer-oriented webpage can be despite the same tasks. The two students came to the conclusion that a clear customer journey should be encouraged, especially from the homepage, in order to ensure that typical user motivations are fulfilled.

The students also took a closer look at the menu bar. Using the recurring gaze patterns of the test persons, they found out that some test persons had expected a rollover menu on the “Products” tab in the main navigation. Web designers should consider such expectations in order to ensure smooth usability.

The project was conducted under the direction of Prof. Dr. Susanne Keil and Juliane Schneider (M.Sc.) as part of the Master’s programme “Technology and Innovation Communication”.
